Most visitors need a Temporary Resident Visa (also referred as visitor visa) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to come to Canada. Whether you need one or not, depends on your country of citizenship. You can find out if you are visa exempt and need an eTA to come to Canada here.
Temporary resident visas can be good for one entry to Canada or for a period of time.
Eligibility
You must meet some basic requirements to get a visitor visa. You must:
- have a valid travel document, like a passport;
be in good health;
- have no criminal or immigration-related convictions;
- proof that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit;
- have enough money for your stay.
You may also need a medical exam and letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.
